NEFLELI
is a Greek artist currently based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
After growing up in a musical family, she left her birthplace to discover and pursue her artistic identity and signature. Her life has been a journey full of various musical endeavors, which have allowed her to experience and experiment with many different musical sounds.
Her main interests involve singing, composition, and production; she is also interested in the visual element she incorporates into her work.
Her music flows within a contemporary and experimental electronic framework that often incorporates traditional elements - mainly Greek, Turkish, and Arabic music widely spread by the descendants of the Greek diaspora. She also draws references from alternative pop and experimental post-rock music as seen in groups such as Radiohead and Son Lux as well as in individual artists’ work like Sevdaliza, James Blake, Billie Eilish, and Stromae.
Her artistic process progresses as an assemblage of ideas; it involves the mixing and matching of all things that catch her ear, an amalgam of random and non-random references that she enjoys blending. She focuses on the integration of all signs, styles, and gestures of interest into her work. She enjoys experimenting with new personalities and sounds, wearing different veils on her sound to create variety and space for limitless directions and ideas.
After the creation and release of her debut album "I Breathe", she takes some time to evolve and experiment with new directions and collaborate with artists.
She is now stepping into a new musical era, working on a new album that she'll share soon.
I Breathe
X finds themselves trapped inside a reality that doesn’t reflect their true identity. A crippling sensation bothers them. They move through a tormenting world in which they don’t feel like they belong. A slow and painful realization hits when they move into the unknown. X’s melancholic existence doesn’t limit their anger as a burning sensation of futility and doubt cages them. That’s when they stumble upon an impasse; disappear completely or break through and seek a new form of existence?
“I Breathe” is NEFΛELI’s debut album, released in 2022, that forms an auditory collage of her love for electronic music and her Greek musical background. This album is a realisation journey. Listening to it, one can find themselves in various states of being. The music stays inside this feeling; it moves through the dilemma of existence and seeks solace on the other side. What will we make of the juicy synapses that echo inside our brains? Will we be able to stay and move through or simply stay behind?
